Ceresit CM 16 Flexible Tile Adhesive - 25kg
Ceresit CM 16 is a high-performance, flexible tile adhesive designed for fixing a wide range of tiles in various locations. It's a cement-based, grey powder that you mix with water to create a smooth, workable mortar. It has excellent adhesion strength, ensuring a secure bond between the tile and the substrate. Being flexible, it can accommodate slight movements and vibrations in the background, making it suitable for areas subject to thermal expansion and contraction, such as underfloor heating systems, balconies, and terraces. Ceresit CM 16 is also water and frost resistant once cured, making it ideal for both internal and external applications. You can use it to fix ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tiles onto a variety of substrates, including concrete, cement screeds, plasterboard, and existing tiled surfaces (provided they are sound and properly prepared with a primer). Ceresit CM 16 offers a reliable and durable solution for your tiling projects, providing the necessary flexibility and strength for long-lasting results in demanding environments. It's a popular choice amongst tilers for its ease of use and dependable performance.

How to Use
- Ensure the surface (substrate) is sound, clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, loose particles, and any substances that could impair adhesion.
- For porous substrates like plasterboard or anhydrite screed, or for existing tiled surfaces, use an appropriate primer (e.g., Ceresit CT 17) and allow it to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Gradually add the CM 16 powder to a measured amount of clean, cool water, stirring continuously with a mixing paddle or drill mixer until you achieve a smooth, lump-free consistency. The typical mixing ratio is usually indicated on the packaging.
- Let the mixed adhesive stand for the recommended slaking time (usually 5-10 minutes) as per the instructions.
- After slaking, briefly re-mix the adhesive to ensure a consistent workability. Do not add more water at this stage.
- Using a notched trowel of the correct size (dependent on the tile size and type), apply a layer of the adhesive to the substrate. Apply only as much adhesive as can be tiled within its open time (the time during which the adhesive remains workable).
- Press and twist the tiles firmly into the adhesive bed, ensuring good contact and even support. Leave the required grout joints between the tiles.
- You'll usually have a certain amount of time after placing the tile to make minor adjustments to its position.
- Wipe away any excess adhesive from the tile surface with a damp sponge or cloth before it hardens.
- Leave the tiles undisturbed for the recommended setting time before grouting (this is usually specified on the packaging).
- Once the adhesive has sufficiently set, you can proceed with grouting the tile joints using a suitable grout.
- Clean your tools and mixing equipment immediately after use with water. Hardened adhesive can be difficult to remove.
- Remember to always refer to the specific instructions on the Ceresit CM 16 packaging as these may contain more detailed or specific guidance for your particular application.
