Single Piece Masonry Hanger 47 x 125mm

47mm x 125mm Single Piece Joist Hanger is designed to support timber joists built into brick or block walls with a minimum crushing strength of 3.5N/mm. It is also suitable for many timber-to-timber applications by securely fixing the masonry flange to timber or steel beams using appropriate fixings. The straight top flange and a lock plate allow the hanger to be transformed into a straddle or hook over configuration, without the need for special equipment. The hanger has a long-term safe working load of 5.4 kN.

FIXING INSTRUCTIONS for 47x125mm Single Piece Masonry Hanger

  • The back plate of the hanger should lie flat against the vertical masonry support.
  • Masonry flange should have a minimum of 3 courses (675mm masonry) above.
  • Both supporting and above masonry should be allowed to cure before any load is applied.
  • Joist should be square-cut and fit snugly against the back of the hanger - maximum allowable gap is 6mm.
  • Nail the side flanges with 30 x 3.75mm galvanized square twist nails or equivalent. For stainless steel hangers, use 30 x 3.75mm annular ring shank nails.
  • Utilize HD straps for lateral restraint.
  • The masonry flange should always be securely fixed or adequately embedded and must never be placed in dry slots.
  • Use appropriate fixings.
  • Always ensure that compatible corrosion-resistant fixings are used, i.e., do not mix galvanized fixings with stainless steel products.
  • Use mortar of the correct strength as per the British Standard.
